Yukon Highway 5

Regular price $35.00 Sale

The Dempster Highway, also referred to as Yukon Highway 5 and Northwest Territories Highway 8, is a highway in Canada that connects the Klondike Highway in Yukon to Inuvik, Northwest Territories on the Mackenzie River delta.

Stretching through some of Canada’s most remote and rugged terrain, the Dempster Highway traces the old dog sled route once used by the North-West Mounted Police between Dawson City and Fort McPherson. Named after Corporal William Dempster, who famously led a 1911 rescue mission through this unforgiving landscape, the highway carries the echoes of history, endurance, and solitude.
